Position

Via San Francesco, 9 - Verona

Dimora San Francesco is situated on the right bank of the river Adige, in the eastern part of the neighbourhood called “Veronetta”. This term was initially created in 1800, during the invasion of the city from the Napoleonic troops: it derives in fact from the French “Veronette”, and it originally indicated the part of the city still under the dominion of the Austrians. Today, the eastern part of the city has become the University district, where we find the main departments of the University of Verona. As any other area of the city, Veronetta is rich in buildings of remarkable historical and artistic interest, such as the San Paolo church in romanic style, San Tomaso church in Gothic style, the beautiful Giardino Giusti with its Italian style gardens and Palazzo Pompei, that dates back to the Renaissance, and now hosts the beautiful Museum of Natural History. In the heart of the neighbourhood you can find delightful local and ethnic restaurants, various shops and workshops. By crossing the closest bridge, you can reach the historical center where the Arena, Piazza delle Erbe and the famous Juliet's House are located. Here you can also find many shops, bars and restaurants where you can taste dishes of the traditional local cuisine.
